Central Maine Regional Communications Center Now Established for 911 Calls

There are some pros and cons about the centralized nature of 911 calls being handled in one of the 24 call centers across the state of Maine. Some communities are benefiting from lower costs and better coverage. Other communities are paying much higher costs. An additional detraction is that calls are going to regional dispatchers who are unfamiliar with the area, roads, and characteristics of each of the towns they service.
