Cell Phones and Driving

Two dangers are citing in the use of cell phones (including text messaging) while driving. The first is that while dialing a phone number your visual attention is diverted from the roadway. The second is that some drivers become so absorbed in their conversations they are blocking out outside stimuli such as sound and sight. A news article in the Village Soup provides more information - see "Cell Phones and Driving" (October 2, 2007).
