Franklin County, Maine Slowly Meeting Federal Requirements for Emergency Management Aid
Franklin County is making progress in it's efforts to become certified for federal funding for emergency management aid, equipment, and training. Federal grants for the purchase of equipment, incident response planning, and training are tied to compliance with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) - which is a program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Up to now, Franklin County has not been in compliance with the NIMS and it has run the risk of loosing federal funding. For more information on this subject read the Morning Sentinel online news posting dated 3 Oct 07 entitled "Conforming to FEMA Regulations: Franklin County making progress for certification".
