Illegal Immigrants Find Maine an Easy Target for Drivers Licenses

In a guest column in the Portland Press Herald, a member of the Mainers for a Sensible Immigration Policy (MSIP) writes on November 14, 2007 that Maine should not pass out drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. Maine is one of several states that offer this "service" to those breaking the law. Currently Maine has over 5,000 people with social security numbers that are 999-99-9999 because Maine does not require an SSN and does not require proof of residency in the state of Maine for a license. See the article entitled "Licenses for Illegal aliens not an issue of safety, but legitimacy". Click here for more information on Mainers for a Sensible Immigration Policy (MSIP).
