Real ID Plan in Trouble?

The U.S. government's plan to have uniform electronic identification cards may be in trouble. Know as the Real ID - this plan was supposed to start in 2008; and become phased in. However, many states are not adopting the plan and are fighting it citing a lack of federal funding for this very expensive program. Other advocates are in favor of it saying we need it to stop terrorists from moving about the country, boarding airplanes, getting access to sensitive areas, and to stop illegal immigration.
