Maine Driver's License Update (Apr 7, 2008)

A bill will soon be debated in the Maine legislature that will require documentation to prove Maine residency in order to get a Maine license. Documents could possibly include a W-2 form, rental agreement, utility bill, or something similar. Members of the military would be exempt. This would be one step in the process of meeting the requirements of the Department of Homeland Security's Real ID Act.
