Maine Regulators Displeased with LNG Proposals

Maine regulators are not happy with the progress being made in the filing of applications for two LNG facilities planned for the coast of Maine. The two firms are taking their time submitting plans for approval. Critics of the LNG facilities are citing environmental, safety and security concerns and have mounted some stiff opposition to the planned LNG facilities. Across the country planned LNG facility development is being stymied by opposition groups. The LNG industry has stated that these safety and security concerns are overstated. A recent news article provides more of the story - see "Regulators vent over delays in LNG proposals", Banger Daily News, July 18, 2008.
