Cell Phone Coverage Needed for Rural Maine Public Safety

Public safety officials in rural Maine have come to rely on cell phone coverage in remote areas to provide fast and efficient service in cases of emergencies. The federal government is looking at cutting funding for a program called "Universal Service Fund" that helps build reliable communication networks in rural areas. The Sheriff of Kennebec County, Randall Liberty, has wrote a letter to the "Morning Sentinel" expressing his concern. View his letter at "Fed's proposal could be dangerous for Maine", Morning Sentinel, August 30, 2008. Visit a website that provides more information at "Connecting Rural America".
