Illegal Immigration in Downward Direction

It seems that the problem of illegal immigration is lessening. Reports indicate that the number of illegal immigrants coming to the United States has subsided somewhat. The recession probably has something to do with that but many point to the lack of comprehensive immigration legislation that would have granted amnesty to illegal immigrants and to an increase in border security. Whatever the reason, it is a positive direction and hopefully will continue. Illegal immigration has been the source of a host of social, economic, and security problems and needs to diminish as much as possible. See more in a article by the Christian Science Monitor entitled "Tide of illegal immigrants now being reversed" (July 31, 2008).
