Digital ID and Biometrics

The area of digital identification and biometrics are converging. Technology is rapidly advancing in both areas. Corporations are trying to balance the ease of use of security systems and measures against being able to protect information and assets against threats. In a recent online article by Forbes Magazine (May 11, 2009) entitled "The Future of Digital IDs" these concepts are explored. The article covers issues such as how security has changed in electronically identifying people, what are the differences between physical identification devices (access cards) and electronic devices (biometrics and electronic chips), how access cards being replaced with cellphones (such as in boarding aircraft), and the use of multiple systems and disciplines to grant access and provide security.
