Safe Boating in Maine

Last year seven people died in boating accidents in Maine. The Maine Warden Service is putting out safety messages in an attempt to reduce that number. The service has also announced that they are stepping up patrols on lakes and ponds. One leading cause of accidents is boat operators drinking alcohol. Maine has over 6,000 lakes and ponds and an extended seacoast. Read more in "State stressing boating safety; patrols to increase", Kennebec Journal, May 24, 2009.
