Emergency Dispatcher Training for Maine

Emergency dispatchers in Maine will now undergo 40-hours of training. Up to now there was no universal or mandated training requirement. The 40 hours will be provided by the National Academy of Dispatch and will encompass emergency telecommunication rules and skills, how to talk to and handle callers, GPS systems, and more. Read about this in "State imposes uniform training for dispatcher", Morning Sentinel, June 14, 2009.
