Maritime Security and Liability

A recent development resulting from the hijacking of the Maersk Alabama is a crew member of the ship suing the ship's owners for not taking the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the crew. The crew member maintains that the ship's owners knowing sailed the ship into pirate infested waters.
