Cyber-Defense Command to Also Safeguard Federal Civlian Systems
The military is setting up a command that will defend military computer networks against computer attacks. The command will also develop offensive cyber-weapons. Hmmmm - I bet there are some of you parents out there that have teenage children who sit behind computers all day. Some of these young computer geeks would probably love to have a job hacking into other countries computer systems! The new command would be led by the National Security Agency. One of the functions of the new cyber-security command will be to protect federal civilian computer networks. Info from "Gates Establishes Cyber-Defense Command", The Washington Post, June 24, 2009.
