Biometric Security - Retinal Scanners

The human eyeball has some unique characteristics that lends itself to biometric security applications. There are a unique set of blood vessel networks for each individual - just like our fingerprints are unique. The first retinal scanner (Wikipedia) was available in the early 1980s by a firm called EyeDentify.
