BIW Makes Good Ships - as in the Arleigh Burkes Class of Destroyers

Maine citizens contribute to our nations defense in many ways.  A fair number of our sons and daughters serve in the miltary on active, reserve or national guard status.  In addition, our citizens also make many of the warships that are in the U.S. navy.  A recent news article in the Portland Press Herald writes about the Arleigh Burke class of guided missile destroyers that have been made over the years at Bath Iron Works.  The destroyer has been one of the Navy's best ships and an enduring program that will continue for the next several years.  Read more in "Arleigh Burkes: Envy of the world", January 1, 2010.
