Electronic Medical Records Easy Target for Theft

Medical advances abound everywhere.  This is also true in the use of the Internet for the storing and accessing of the medical records of patients.  Doctors and hospitals would have easy access to the medical records of patients.  Pharmacys could verify subscriptions.  Insurance companies could ensure you are not getting medical insurance for procedures not covered under their plans (did I just say that?).  Of note are the opportunities for cyber criminals.  Yes, they can benefit from the online storage of your personal medical records as well!  So before you plunge into putting your private medical records online to make it easier for the medical professionals think about the security of those records.  Read more in "The Weakest Link", Forbes.com, February 1, 2010.
