Maine Schools to Provide SSNs to the State - Providing More Opportunities for Identity Theft

Maine schools are being required to collect Social Security numbers from students and then submit them to the State of Maine so that each student can be tracked for life in a huge database.  Some schools don't think this is an good idea citing security reasons associated with identity theft.  Read more in "Schools at odds with law", Morning Sentinel, August 22, 2010.
