Gun Owners Deter Crime in Detroit (and Maine)
A former police chief in Portland, Maine - and now the police chief in Detroit - has come out in favor of legal gun ownership as a method to deter crime. He stated that Maine is one of the safest places in America and believes that part of that safety is due to the high percentage of Maine citizens who own guns. Thieves and other criminals realize that Maine citizens are not always easy targets and therefore serious and violent crime takes place at a lower level than in other parts of America.
